Gyokko is one of the main villains of the Swordsmith Village Arc, sharing the spotlight with Hantengu as a serious threat to the protagonists. He's an Upper Rank demon—specifically Upper Rank Five—and a member of the Twelve Kizuki elite.
He wasn't always a demon. Before his transformation, he was human, going by the name Managi. The details of his conversion aren't pretty, but it's typical for Demon Slayer's tragic backstories: people who were fundamentally broken before they ever met Muzan.
Physically, Gyokko's pretty distinctive. In his normal state, he's remarkably small—just under five feet tall and weighing barely 40 kilograms. But he can molt, shedding his skin to reveal a much larger, more imposing form that's twenty centimeters taller and practically doubles his weight. It's one of those unsettling demon abilities that shows why these guys are genuinely dangerous.
