Touka was one of several students summoned by the Goddess Vicius to become heroes in another world—a summons that turned out to be a setup. Vicius abandoned him and left him to die in the Ruins of Disposal. He survived anyway, and that betrayal set him on a path of revenge.
On the surface, Touka comes across as genuinely kind and straightforward. But his childhood was rough—his parents tortured him, leaving deep scars that shaped who he'd become. That trauma gave rise to a darker side he kept hidden, one that operated on a strict eye-for-an-eye philosophy.
Things got better when his aunt and uncle took him in and raised him as their own. With people who actually cared about him around, Touka managed to suppress that darkness and just be the good, honest person he naturally seemed to be. For a while, he was genuinely happy.
Then Vicius betrayed him, and all those old instincts came flooding back. The dark personality took over again.
