Tenpou Gensou, Field Marshal of Heaven's Western Army, is Cho Hakkai's previous incarnation. He's basically defined by two things: books and weirdness. The guy's a reading addict who keeps his office packed with random lower world junk he calls his "collection"—a total pack rat approach to life. He's got this easygoing, vague personality that screams "I do things at my own pace," and he genuinely couldn't care less about his appearance. His white coat's shabby, his hair's got dandruff issues, and somehow his handsome face manages to look completely wasted despite all that. Fans know him as a total oddball.
What makes him actually dangerous as a commander is that calm, level-headed tactical sense he brings to the battlefield—it's almost like watching a different person entirely. The Dragon King himself recognizes Tenpou as an exceptional military mind. He used to handle everything solo, but meeting his good friend Kenren genuinely changed him. After that he started delegating, put Kenren at the head of the unit, and basically settled into a support role. That said, he's got a darker streak: he can get weirdly possessive about sensitive intel and won't back down from a fight with literally anyone until he's satisfied.
Physically, he's got semi-long black hair that looks like he just stopped bothering to cut it, thick glasses, and a face that somehow blends gentleness with something harsh. There's something about his features that actually echoes Hakkai's look. He chain-smokes Arc Royal cigarettes and keeps a charming earthenware frog ashtray he picked up in the lower world—Minekura had her assistant design it, and she's been trying to get it made into merchandise. He favors a katana for sealing missions.
