Matsukaze Tenma
Tenma's the new main character of the series—a first-year at Raimon Jr. High who's obsessed with soccer. He's got genuine talent, especially when it comes to dribbling, but honestly, most of his other skills are pretty rough around the edges and need serious work. What he lacks in polish, though, he makes up for in attitude. He's the type to brush off problems with a carefree "It'll work out somehow," which is either inspiring or kind of annoying depending on who you ask.
The story kicks off with Tenma arriving at Raimon about a decade after the original FFI tournament wrapped up. His infectious passion for the game is what sets him apart from the get-go—he's not the most technically skilled player around, but he plays with heart and an almost naive optimism that slowly wins people over.
