Aunt Josephine Barry
Diana's aunt and one of Anne's earliest challenges. She starts out pretty stern—the kind of person who seems genuinely annoyed by Anne's chatter and dramatic flair. But Anne's unfiltered imagination and enthusiasm eventually win her over. By the end of their first meeting, Josephine's softened enough to invite Anne out for tea, and later sends her an expensive Christmas gift. It's one of those character arcs that feels quietly satisfying: a crusty older relative realizing that Anne's energy, however much it might grate at first, is actually kind of wonderful.
