Jinbei comes from a samurai family marked by tragedy. His grandfather was forced to amputate his own leg as an act of repentance after an incident involving Jinbei's father and their master—though the blame wasn't really his father's to bear. When his father gets called up to join the Mushibugyou, Jinbei steps in to take his place in Edo instead, determined to restore his family's honor through the sacrifice his father made.
Despite being naturally stronger than most people, Jinbei ends up as the weakest link on the team. What he lacks in raw power or experience, though, he makes up for with sheer grit and an unshakeable spirit that gradually wins over his teammates. His peers come to respect him for that refusal to quit.
