Kagura is the story's irrepressible heroine—always grinning despite everything thrown at her. She's got guts and real ambition, and she can hold her own in a fight thanks to her Byakuei, a dragon she controls through a seal on her back and a binding chain. There's a catch though: when Byakuei hurts, she hurts too. Kensuke's support keeps her going and motivated, and it's pretty clear she's got feelings for him—she gets visibly jealous whenever he's alone with Shizuru, and she's caught off guard when Kyouko casually suggests she should just go out with him if she's so worried. She calls him Ken-chan.
What starts as rivalry with Shizuru gradually becomes genuine closeness. Things get complicated when Kagura temporarily becomes the host for the Kyuubi; Kensuke manages to free her from it, but the experience wipes her memory. When her memories return, they trigger the return of Yomi.
