Suk is a Prague detective caught in a murder investigation that spirals beyond his control. His superior, Filip Zeman, gets killed while looking into deaths connected to the 511 Kinderheim orphanage—a case where Grimmer is a potential suspect. The problem: Suk discovers Zeman was secretly collaborating with the old Czechoslovak secret police, which immediately complicates everything.
Things get worse fast. Three more cops die, and suddenly Suk himself becomes a suspect. When the department tries to keep tabs on him, two additional officers are killed. The pressure mounts as he hunts for a tape recorded by the former headmaster of 511 Kinderheim—evidence people are willing to kill for. He manages to get his hands on it, but not without serious injury.
Through all this chaos, Suk finds some solace confiding in a woman he meets at a bar. He believes she's Anna Liebert, a striking blonde. Whether she's really who he thinks or something else entirely, she becomes a confidant during his darkest moments.
