Citron is the Spring Troupe's resident goofball and mood maker. He's an exchange student from somewhere—nobody really knows where, which is kind of his whole thing. He showed up, met Izumi and the crew, and basically decided to join the company on the spot.
The guy's got serious enthusiasm for acting and studying Japanese, but that enthusiasm often outpaces his actual ability. His Japanese is rough enough that sometimes it's genuinely hard to tell whether he's messing up or just messing with people. Either way, he's great at lifting the group's spirits when things get heavy. His trademark move is cracking jokes through mistranslations and word mix-ups, and somehow it works.
What makes him stand out is how he can read a room—he's weirdly good at sensing when people are tense and knows how to defuse it. He's upbeat and open-minded overall, which creates a natural comedic chemistry with Tsuzuru, whose serious personality makes them basically a classic comedy duo. Despite all this, there's something unknowable about him that keeps people at arm's length. Nobody quite figures him out.
As for the mystery: he claims to be a foreign exchange student without a place to stay, which is why he's in the dorm. The actual story is he ran away from home. Since he's an adult, he doesn't need permission to live there, and it's easy enough to stay under the radar. What his deal really is? Still anybody's guess.
