Black★Rock Shooter is the main character across multiple projects—the anime OVA, RPG, anime series, and manga Black★Rock Shooter ~Innocent Soul~. She started as an original design for Hatsune Miku, created by huke for supercell's song "Black★Rock Shooter."
Design:
She's typically depicted as a pale-skinned girl with blue eyes and black hair styled in uneven twintails, with her right side noticeably shorter. Two scars mark her midriff, and a distinctive blue flame erupts from her left eye. Her outfit consists of a black jacket over a string bikini top—the jacket features white stripes down the sleeves and a white star on the front and back. She rounds out the look with shorts, gloves, and black knee-high boots. Her weapons are the Black Blade katana and the ★rock Cannon, a massive gun. She functions as Mato's "other self" in a parallel world.
In the OVA:
The OVA gave her a defined personality: calm and quiet, barely speaking until her climactic confrontation with Mato. She's laser-focused on her immediate objectives and doesn't waste energy on anything else. Her eyes gained the distinctive concentric circle pattern shared by other OVA characters. As a fighter, she's skilled enough to hold her own against Dead Master while seemingly restraining herself, though she gets overwhelmed by Black★Gold Saw early on.
Anime Version:
The anime redesign borrowing elements from White Rock Shooter and Black★Rock Shooter Beast gives her spikier hair similar to her PSP game appearance, and her jacket and boots lean more blue than black. The scars are gone, and she wears her trademark hood more frequently. This version is notably more ruthless than her other incarnations—she beheads Chariot and kills Dead Master, showing a brutal edge the character doesn't display elsewhere.
