Synopsis

In the distant future, two brilliant military commanders rise to prominence on opposite sides of a galactic conflict. Reinhard von Lohengramm, a strategic genius, and Yang Wen-li, a tactical mastermind, are nearly equals in their abilities—and they genuinely respect each other. But they're enemies, commanding massive fleets of warships and millions of soldiers in a brutal war for control of the Milky Way that's been going on for over 150 years. The Galactic Empire is an absolute monarchy under Kaiser Friedrich von Goldenbaum IV, backed by an entrenched noble class determined to crush any rebellion. The Free Planets Alliance presents itself as a democracy, but its High Council is hopelessly corrupt—its leaders cynically use the war itself to stay in power. Reinhard climbed the ranks to High Admiral through raw tactical genius, with a boost from his sister's position as the Kaiser's favored concubine. Yang's a history buff and reluctant military officer who became a celebrated war hero basically by out-thinking his own incompetent commanders. They want completely different things. Reinhard envisions uniting all of humanity under his personal rule. Yang just wants to end the war and find a real path to peace. As the conflict intensifies, both men pursue their visions with ruthless determination, each carving out their legacy as the era's greatest military leaders.
