Fate/Apocrypha
Fate/Apocrypha takes place in an alternate timeline where the Greater Grail vanished from Fuyuki after the Third Holy Grail War. Fast forward to the early 2000s—right around when the Fifth War would've gone down in the normal timeline—and the Yggdmillennia clan suddenly goes public. They announce they've left the Mage's Association and that they're sitting on the Grail. The Association doesn't take this well and sends fifty magi to get it back. Almost all of them get wiped out instantly by Lancer of Black. The single survivor manages to trigger the Grail's backup system before dying, which sets off a massive ritual that summons fourteen Servants total. This kicks off the Great Holy Grail War in Trifas. The conflict splits into two sides: the Black Faction, made up of Yggdmillennia members, and the Red Faction, mostly composed of Association magi with one representative from the Church thrown in. The Grail itself also brings a Servant into the war specifically to referee things—Ruler, who acts as the official mediator for the whole mess.
