In a future where medical nanotechnology and a commitment to social welfare have created what seems like utopia, three girls reject this "perfect" world by attempting suicide through starvation. The attempt fails, but one of them—Tuan Kirie—eventually joins the World Health Organization. Years later, when a crisis threatens to destabilize everything, Tuan reconnects with another member of her childhood suicide pact. Together, they have to figure out how to save the planet from destroying itself.
