Synopsis

Girls can make a single wish to become magical girls and fight the invisible darkness threatening the world. The magical girls of Mitakihara seem to have it all figured out—they balance normal middle school lives during the day with their duties as a tight-knit team by night. But something feels off to Homura Akemi, a shy transfer student who's recently joined their ranks. She can't shake the feeling that things aren't adding up. The way her new friends' lives play out so perfectly, the nature of their battles—it all seems wrong somehow. As Homura starts pulling away to investigate on her own, she begins uncovering uncomfortable truths. And the biggest one? One of these girls shouldn't even be alive.
