Kidou Shin Seiki Gundam X
Fifteen years ago, space colonists went to war with Earth. During the fighting, both sides discovered something remarkable: certain humans possessed mysterious mental abilities—precognition, telekinesis, psychic power. They called these people Newtypes, and they became the most valuable soldiers in the conflict. The Earth Federation weaponized them through the Flash System, which let a single Newtype pilot control entire squadrons of unmanned mobile suits. It worked, but it burned through Newtypes like ammunition. Space pushed back on principle. They believed living off-world naturally awakened these powers in humans, and that Newtypes represented evolution—not tools to be used up in war. But neither side could stop the machine they'd created. In the final battle, the Space Revolution Army dropped multiple colonies on Earth. The impact was catastrophic. Millions died instantly. Those lucky enough to reach underground shelters survived, though they wouldn't see sunlight for four years. Everyone else had to adapt to a dead world—endless winter, an atmosphere in constant chaos. The war was over. Officially, anyway. But the trauma lingered, and so did the fear of Newtypes. It's now year 0015 of the After War era. Earth is slowly rebuilding, but scavengers called Vultures roam the ruins in mobile suits, raiding for profit or running from their past. Garrod Ran, a fifteen-year-old orphan, survives on his wits and knowledge of mobile suit technology. When he's hired to rescue a kidnapped girl from the Vulture ship Freeden and its captain Jamil Neate, he thinks it's just another job. Then he discovers the girl—Tiffa Adill—is a powerful Newtype who can dream the future. And when she shows him the Gundam X, everything changes. Garrod might be humanity's only chance against what's coming. But will mankind just repeat the same mistakes?
