Aliens called Mimics have invaded Earth, forcing humanity into an all-out war for survival. To fight back, the world's militaries unite under the United Defense Force. Soldiers are outfitted with powered exoskeletons and sent to the front lines to take down the invaders. Keiji Kiriya, a fresh recruit, dies almost immediately on his first combat drop. But then he wakes up the day before the mission—and it happens again. He's caught in a time loop, forced to relive the same battle over and over.
