Synopsis

A hundred years ago, humans and beasts fought a brutal war. When it finally ended, they established a grim peace treaty: every year, a young woman from the human villages would be sent to Ozmargo—the beast kingdom shrouded in toxic miasma—as a sacrificial offering to the King of Beasts. Sariphi is the 99th sacrifice. At just fifteen, she's taken from her home and transported to this forbidden realm, expecting to meet her end. Except she's nothing like the terrified girls who came before her. She doesn't seem scared at all—if anything, she's weirdly optimistic, which catches the King completely off guard. Intrigued despite himself, he breaks tradition and lets her wander freely through his kingdom until her execution date, consequences be damned. Neither of them realizes it yet, but those days together are about to change everything for Ozmargo.
