Natsu Iwashimizu's last clear memory is of eating her favorite meals with her family—then she wakes up. Except she's not home. She's on a sinking ship, and three strangers are pulling her to safety: Arashi Aota, who's kind but has a terrible temper; Semimaru Asai, who loves mocking Natsu's timid personality; and Botan Saotome, a capable woman who seems to actually understand what's happening. After they escape, the four of them sail to what looks like a deserted island. Except it's not deserted. It's Japan—or what's left of it. A meteorite wiped out humanity and transformed the entire environment. To rebuild the population, the government created the "7 Seeds" project: five teams with seven young people each, plus a guide. Summer, Spring, Autumn, Winter, and Summer B. Natsu's team, Summer B, got stuck with the label of "failures." To survive, they need to locate one of the government shelters stocked with supplies. They're stuck in a hostile, unfamiliar world with no family, no support system—just each other. If they're going to make it, they need to figure out how to actually work together.
