Synopsis

Nanami Momozono's life goes downhill fast when her father disappears to escape gambling debts, leaving her homeless and broke. While wandering the streets, she stumbles across a guy clinging to a tree to get away from a dog. After she helps him out, he feels bad about her situation and offers her his house—no strings attached. He insists she's better suited to be its "Master" than he is, so she takes the deal. When Nanami actually shows up though, she finds out the house is basically a run-down shrine. Before she can bail, a fox spirit named Tomoe and two other shrine spirits intercept her, thinking she's Mikage, the land god they used to serve. Tomoe's not happy about the mix-up and immediately refuses to work for some random human girl. But after Nanami gets into serious trouble and desperately summons him, she manages to lock him into a contract and force his obedience. Now Nanami's stuck as a human land god dealing with all kinds of supernatural problems and dangerous enemies—plus trying to manage Tomoe, a devastatingly attractive familiar with a serious attitude problem.
