Set in 2008 Shibuya, the story follows Takumi Nishijou, a high school student at the private Suimei Academy, as he gets pulled into a series of bizarre murders. Two incidents have already shaken the city and earned the name "New Generation events" in the media. The first happened on September 7th when five students jumped to their deaths from a high tower. A week later, a man's body was discovered with a thirty-two-week-old fetus cut open inside his abdomen. On September 28th, Takumi is chatting online with his friend Grim, who fills him in on these recent events since Takumi doesn't follow the news. After Grim leaves, someone named Shōgun enters the chat and immediately bombards Takumi with graphic images of a brutal murder. The next afternoon, heading home from an internet cafe, Takumi stumbles across the exact scene from Shōgun's photos in real life. He bolts from the crime scene screaming, but not before spotting a pink-haired girl in a Suimei Academy uniform standing there covered in blood. From that point on, Takumi desperately tries to distance himself from Shōgun and these New Generation events. But he's already caught in something much bigger than himself, and there's no getting out.
