Nico Wakatsuki has just wrapped up six years of witch training and is heading back to her hometown solo. As a newly certified witch, she needs to pick a familiar—but she's not interested in the usual animal companion route. Her choice? Morihito "Moi" Otogi, her childhood friend who happens to be an ogre. He's furious about the whole thing, but caves when he learns that refusing a witch's direct order will curse him into some weird cow-tiger monstrosity. With Morihito's dad away on business and Nico's mom staying behind in the Witches' Holy Land, the two end up living together. Nico's thrilled about shacking up with her crush, but Morihito quickly discovers that her magical mishaps and general clumsiness cause way more trouble than they're worth. On top of everything else, a prophecy suggests something bad is coming for Nico within the next year. So now Morihito's stuck juggling two jobs: keeping his clumsy witch safe while actually being her familiar.
