On his first day back to school after summer break, high schooler Aoba gets attacked by a massive robot that suddenly drops out of nowhere. While he's running for his life through the city, his classmate Hina shows up piloting her own robot and saves him. She tells him something cryptic about Dio waiting for him, then vanishes. That's how Aoba gets dragged into piloting a robot for the Free Treaty Alliance in their war against the Great Zogilia Republic.
