Type-Moon was founded by artist Takashi Takeuchi and writer Kinoko Nasu, who were also schoolmates.

Originally formed as a Doujin Soft in 2000, but turn into a Commercial Organization on January 30, 2004, and the same year, they released their PC-based eroge visual novel game, Fate Stay Night.
