Shinji Aramaki is a Japanese anime director and mechanical designer best known for his work on the Appleseed films, particularly the 2004 CGI feature and its sequel Ex Machina. He also directed the mecha series Gasaraki and has helmed various other productions throughout his career.
Beyond directing, Aramaki's design work spans a huge range of anime. He's contributed mechanical designs to major series like Gundam: MS IGLOO and Scryed, while also working as a character or mechanical designer on everything from Bubblegum Crisis and Digimon Tamers to Full Metal Alchemist and the atmospheric Witch Hunter Robin. His versatility across both direction and design has made him a consistent presence in anime production since the 1990s.
