Yamakawa
Birthplace: Tokyo, Japan
Yamakawa made his name with those instantly recognizable, charming character designs—the kind that defined early 2000s anime aesthetics. Di Gi Charat is probably his most iconic work, though he's also known for the designs in Akihabara Dennou-gumi: 2011 Nen no Natsuyasumi and Sweet Valerian. Fans tend to associate his style with a particular flavor of quirky, colorful pop sensibility that hit at just the right moment.
He stepped into directing with the feature film Hells in 2008, marking a shift into that side of production.
