Akai Ko-en is a Japanese all-girl rock band that started in 2010 and signed to EMI Music Japan for their major debut in 2012. The group went through significant changes in the late 2010s—original vocalist Chiaki Satou left in August 2017, shortly after their fourth album Nesshou Summer dropped. Riko Ishino stepped in as the new vocalist the following year, and the revamped lineup released their fifth album, The Park, in April 2020.
The band faced tragedy in October 2020 when guitarist and band leader Maisa Tsuno passed away at just 29 years old.
