Tsunku♂ (real name Mitsuo Terada) is best known as the mastermind behind Morning Musume and the broader Hello!Project empire, though he originally made his name as the vocalist for the band SharanQ. As a producer and songwriter, he basically shaped the sound of Japanese pop for years, overseeing essentially every group under the Hello!Project umbrella.

Things changed significantly in 2014 when he was diagnosed with laryngeal cancer. His vocal cords were surgically removed in 2015 after treatment didn't work out, which obviously altered his ability to perform but didn't stop him from continuing to produce music and write.

He's married to Kanako Idemitsu, a former model, and they have three kids together. Around 2016, the family relocated to Waikiki, Hawaii, though Tsunku♂ still makes occasional trips back to Japan for work.
