Born September 18, 1953 in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. Graduated from Tokyo Zokei University.
Takizawa started his animation career at Tokyo Animation Film as a photographer before moving into production assistance at Shin-Ei Douga. His real break came at Nippon Sunrise, where he transitioned into directing. His directorial debut arrived in 1985 with the Dirty Pair TV series—work that established him as a capable action-anime director. He stayed active in the industry for decades, eventually transitioning to freelance work.
He's known for his line direction on the Ideon Be Invoked film and involvement with the Votoms series, but probably best remembered by modern fans for directing Gonzo's 2004 TV adaptation of Kurosawa's Samurai 7, which brought the legendary film to anime form. He passed away June 22, 2015.
