Asaka got into anime through the "Hare Hare Yukai" dance from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya in 5th grade, which set her on the path to music. She decided to pursue singing after a music teacher encouraged her in first year of junior high, but it was May'n who really inspired her to aim specifically for anisong. She's also cited Konomi Suzuki as a major influence.
She spent her early childhood between ages 3 and 8 in Michigan due to her parents' work. Before committing to music, she'd actually wanted to be a translator and attended international school.
Her real name is Noji Asaka (野地あさか). "Asaka" itself means "Flower that Blooms in Asia."
On the competitive side, she made the finals of NHK's 2nd Annual Anisong Nodojihan G in 2015 and participated in various karaoke competitions and auditions throughout her pre-debut years. She was determined enough to tell May'n directly at that 2015 competition that she was aiming for her. She also had her sights set on Animelo Summer Live after KATSU from angela encouraged her at the 2014 festival—she eventually performed there in 2018.
Beyond singing, she's skilled at karaoke, cosplay, nail art, and English. She's clearly into the whole anime and gaming scene, unsurprisingly.
