Masumi Itou is a singer and composer known mainly for her work scoring anime. She's been involved with a bunch of different projects—she's part of both Oranges & Lemons and Heart of Air, and she's composed soundtracks for tons of anime shows. When she's doing composition work, she often goes by the name Hikaru Nanase.

She studied at Musashino College of Music. Her husband, Yoshiyuki Itou, runs music production over at Lantis. Before marriage, her name was Masumi Nitta.
