Nogizaka46

Nogizaka46 is a Japanese female idol group created by Yasushi Akimoto. They're officially positioned as the "rival group" to AKB48—and that rivalry is pretty deliberate. The name comes from the Nogizaka area in Tokyo, where Sony Music Japan's office building sits. Akimoto picked the number 46 specifically as a challenge to AKB48's 48, so the competitive angle was built in from the start.
