Birthplace: Fukuoka Prefecture

Kakudou studied at Tokyo University before joining Toei Douga—which later became Toei Animation—where he built his early career as a director and took on various roles including storyboarding and production assistance. He's best known for his work on series like Slam Dunk and Gegege no Kitarou, where he contributed across multiple production capacities.

These days he works as a freelance director and is part of the animation collective Group Ebisen.
