She first published "Panky Cake Junkie" in Kodansha's Bessatsu Friend back in 1995 and blew up pretty quickly after that. Her debut tankoubon, "Karaoke Baka Ichidai," came out through a smaller publisher and unfortunately got pulled from circulation—one of those early releases that's now hard to track down. Things really took off when "Koibumi Biyori" landed the Kodansha Manga Award in May 2005. Her pen name comes from a character in the classic anime Kagaku Ninja-tai Gatchaman.
