Yoshinari You went to Tokyo Designer Gakuin College before landing at Madhouse in 1992—though he didn't stay long. That same year he jumped to Gainax, where he'd end up spending nearly two decades. When Imaishi and a bunch of other ex-Gainax people decided to start their own thing, Yoshinari went with them in 2011, co-founding Studio Trigger.
He's the younger brother of animator Yoshinari Kou.
