Ogawa Hiroshi was an animator, character designer and animation director.
After graduating from Tokyo Designer Gakuin College he joined Tsuchida Production in 1976. In 1983 he left the struggling studio to create his own animation studio, Studio 501. Between 1987 and 1988 he was working for Disney Japan before he became freelance in 1989. He went on to work mostly for Shin-Ei Animation during this time, directing and storyboarding many Shin-chan episodes for the studio. From 2006, he started working as a professor at the Kyoto Seika University Comics and Animation faculty and quit working on Shin-chan in July, 2007.
Ogawa died of stomach cancer at 9:20 a.m. on August 7, 2013. He was 62 years old at the time of his death.
