Synopsis

A mysterious fire kills Shirou's family, but he's rescued and taken in by Kiritsugu Emiya, who raises him and teaches him magic and ideals about justice. Years later, after Kiritsugu's death, Shirou stumbles onto a brutal fight between two superhuman Servants while cleaning up at school. He gets badly hurt trying to escape, and when the same Servant comes back to kill him, Shirou desperately summons his own Servant—a knight named Saber. Now they're both trapped in the Fifth Holy Grail War, a deadly tournament where seven Servants and their masters fight for the ultimate prize: the Holy Grail, a relic said to grant any wish. The story follows Shirou as he grapples with what it actually means to be a hero. His idealistic dreams keep crashing into the brutal reality of the war around him. Can he live up to his foster father's legacy, or will he be consumed by the conflict?
