Famous quote: "The world is just another word for the things you value around you, right? That's something I've had since I was born. If you tell me to rule such a world, I already rule it."
At school, Rin's the perfect student—model behavior, everyone respects her. But she keeps her distance, spending most lunch periods alone on the rooftop just to avoid people. What nobody knows is that she's actually a magus and a Master in the Fifth Holy Grail War.
Her family, the Toosakas, go way back. Two hundred years ago, her ancestor Nagato helped found the Fuyuki Holy Grail Wars alongside the Makiri and Einzbern families, offering up the family's land in Fuyuki City as the battleground. Because Nagato was a Christian convert and studied under the magus Zelretch, he had enough pull with both the Mage's Association and the Church to keep the family safe from interference.
Growing up, Rin was groomed to take over the family's magecraft legacy. Her father Tokiomi drilled into her that sorcery came before everything else—her own wants didn't matter. Then ten years before the Fifth War, he got selected as a Master in the Fourth Holy Grail War and left Rin to run things while he was gone. Her mother Aoi was left in bad shape from the war's aftermath, so their guardian Kirei Kotomine took over her care. When Tokiomi died in that war, the Toosaka lands passed to Aoi, and eventually to Rin after her mother's death. But Kirei managed the properties badly—he was careless and let most of the profitable stuff slip away, probably thinking money would spoil her upbringing.
So Rin's stuck resenting all the sacrifices tradition demanded of her, yet she's also intensely competitive and determined to prove she's a real skilled magus. When she summoned Archer for the Fifth War, she was furious—she'd wanted Saber instead. They clashed hard at first, but they worked past it pretty quick and ended up a solid team.
Underneath the straight-A student image, though? She's actually stingy, tomboyish, and kind of lazy. But maintaining that perfect reputation matters to her, even if it means keeping everyone at arm's length.
