Synopsis

The Holy Grail War is basically a battle royale for mages—seven masters summon powerful servants and fight to the death for the Holy Grail, a magical artifact that grants wishes to whoever wins it. Ten years before the story starts, the Fourth Holy Grail War nearly destroyed Fuyuki City and killed over 500 people in the process. Shirou Emiya was one of the survivors. He was saved by Kiritsugu Emiya, who became his adoptive father and inspired Shirou to chase his dream of becoming a hero of justice. Fast forward to high school, and Shirou accidentally witnesses a servant battle at school, which somehow causes him to summon his own servant, Saber. He's now stuck competing in the Fifth Holy Grail War whether he likes it or not. Things get messy when a mysterious shadowy entity starts killing people across the city. Shirou teams up with Rin Toosaka, another master in the war, to stop the murders. But his growing feelings for Sakura Matou—a friend he cares about deeply—pull him into the twisted history of the Holy Grail War and the secrets the major families have been hiding all along.
