A Time Patrol agent investigating a disturbance in 1570s Japan gets ambushed and crashes underground into the Nohara family's home in modern-day Japan. Stranded and out of options, she has no choice but to ask the Noharas for help. The family travels back to feudal Japan with her, where they meet Fubuki-maru, a samurai convinced they're the legendary trio and dog from an old prophecy about his family's destiny. Fubuki-maru recruits them to help take down Unkokusai, a dark lord wielding mysterious magical powers.
