The breadwinner of the Nohara family, Hiroshi works as a typical Japanese salaryman in Akita, grinding through eight-hour days and packed commuter trains. He met his wife Misae at 29, dated for about a year, and married her. Now 35, he's a devoted father to two kids and a loving husband—though his marriage is pretty rocky.
The main friction? Misae controls the family finances with an iron fist. Hiroshi hands over his entire paycheck every month and gets barely any spending money in return, which he constantly complains about.
