Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu Gaiden (1999)
Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu Gaiden (1999) is the second OVA adaptation of side stories from the Ginga Eiyuu Densetsu novel series. Spiral Labyrinth Yang becomes a public figure after successfully evacuating civilians from El Facil. With his sudden promotions and media fame comes scrutiny of the "Year 730 Mafia"—a powerful clique of Alliance officers built around the legendary tactician Bruce Ashbey. Yang digs into a controversial claim by Ashbey's widow: that the war hero was actually murdered, not killed in combat. The Mutineer Reinhard and Kircheis are stationed on the destroyer Hameln II at Iserlohn Fortress. When their captain is badly injured, Reinhard takes command and has to prove himself to a skeptical crew. The Duelist While working in the Imperial capital Odin, Reinhard learns that a mining dispute involving his sister's friend Dorothea von Schaffhausen will be settled by duel. He volunteers to fight in her place against Count Herxheimer. The Retriever Herxheimer, now out of favor with the nobility, attempts to defect to the Free Planets Alliance with a stolen Seffle particle generator. Reinhard is sent to stop him and recover the prototype, but gets only a small cruiser for the covert operation. The Third Battle of Tiamat The Empire launches a major offensive to mark the 30th anniversary of Kaiser Friedrich IV's reign. When the Imperial fleet clashes with three Alliance fleets, Reinhard's intervention decides the outcome.
