Synopsis

Toshihiko Tanaka idolizes Yoshiharu Kubo, whose incredible performance led Kakegawa High School to an unlikely soccer tournament win. Inspired, Tanaka enrolls at the same school with one goal: join the soccer club and become just as successful as his hero. Reality hits hard. As a freshman, Tanaka quickly discovers that Kubo—now the team captain—is out sick. Worse, the club's rules keep freshmen separated from older players and off the regular roster. And his two best friends from junior high, Kenji Shiraishi and Kazuhiro Hiramatsu, want nothing to do with soccer anymore, having both quit for personal reasons. The deadly trio that once dominated middle school is basically dead on arrival. Just when things look hopeless, an old childhood friend named Kazumi Endo shows up with her own agenda. She's frustrated that the three of them have drifted apart and decides to meddle—in her own mischievous way—to push them back together. With her unexpected intervention, Tanaka finally gets the push he needs to turn things around, and his high school soccer story can finally begin.
