Neon Genesis Evangelion
Shinseiki Evangelion
Fifteen years after the catastrophic Second Impact, strange giant beings called Angels begin attacking Tokyo-3. Conventional weapons prove useless against them. Humanity's only defense is NERV, a shadowy organization run by the enigmatic Gendou Ikari, which deploys massive humanoid robots called Evangelions to fight back. These machines wield cutting-edge weaponry and generate protective barriers known as Absolute Terror Fields. Shinji Ikari, Gendou's fourteen-year-old son, returns to Tokyo-3 after years of abandonment. He's still dealing with deep trauma from losing his mother and being neglected by his father—and he's terrified of letting anyone get close. Everything shifts when he meets Misato Katsuragi, a twenty-nine-year-old NERV officer whose warm, free-spirited nature gives him something he's never had before: a maternal presence he can actually rely on. Then an Angel attacks, and Gendou's real reason for bringing Shinji back becomes clear: his son is the only child who can pilot Evangelion Unit-01, a machine that syncs with his biology in ways no one else can replicate. Despite the crushing psychological toll of piloting an Evangelion, Shinji takes up the fight to protect Tokyo-3—all while remaining clueless about his father's true agenda.
