In the Sun Kingdom, people live under endless sunshine—rain is something they've never even encountered. Meanwhile, in the distant Rain Dukedom, the opposite is true. There, everyone possesses the power to summon rain through their voices. Livius Orvinus Ifrikia has conquered the world in just three years since becoming king, spreading the Sun Kingdom's dominance far and wide. When he learns about the Rain Dukedom's powers, he decides his best move is to marry Nike Remercier, one of their princesses. Word travels fast, though, and the rumors paint Livius as a brutal, cold-blooded tyrant. Nike steels herself for the worst before meeting him—only to discover he's nothing like his reputation suggests.
