Synopsis

After bonding over shared trauma, Nanachi joins Riko and Reg as they venture deeper into the Abyss. Their next challenge is the Sea of Corpses, the fifth layer—notable as the deepest point from which travelers can still return without becoming inhuman. Standing in their way is Bondrewd, a masked sadist who runs a grotesque laboratory that effectively gatekeeps passage to the lower levels. The sociopathic scientist has no intention of letting Riko's group through without a price. For Nanachi, his appearance dredges up painful memories from childhood and forces them to confront their trauma head-on. The group's one advantage is Prushka, Bondrewd's brash daughter who becomes their unlikely ally. By befriending her and earning her trust, Riko, Reg, and Nanachi find a way to outmaneuver Bondrewd and push forward into the sixth layer.
