Synopsis

Ohana Matsumae is a spirited, headstrong teenager living in Tokyo with her carefree mom. When her mother suddenly bails to escape debt collectors—leaving with her new boyfriend—Ohana's dumped in rural Japan to stay with her strict grandmother, who runs a small inn. With nowhere else to go and her mom's philosophy of "fend for yourself" ringing in her ears, Ohana has to adjust to quiet countryside life. She picks up work as a maid at the inn while navigating her new school, making friends, and dealing with all the unexpected challenges that come with her drastically different circumstances.
