Synopsis

Sena Kobayakawa is the classic bullying target—quiet, small, and easy to push around. But years of running errands have made him surprisingly quick and nimble at slipping through crowds. When Youichi Hiruma, the scheming captain of Deimon High's football team, spots Sena's speed, he doesn't ask for permission—he just recruits him. To keep Sena's identity under wraps from rival schools, Hiruma sticks him behind a visor and the number 21 jersey. This way, Sena becomes "Eyeshield 21," an alias tied to a legendary phantom running back who supposedly played for Notre Dame and ran at impossible speeds across America. The irony isn't lost: Sena's whole life has been about dodging trouble. Now those same instincts could make him the Devil Bats' secret weapon. As he gets pulled deeper into the team, he starts finding his confidence and actually connecting with people for once.
