Daigo
Daigo ruled over Ishikawa domain during a period of crisis—floods and crop failures had left the region starving and desperate. Rather than accept the collapse of his territory, he turned to a dark solution: he struck a bargain with a group of supernatural entities (48 devils in the original telling, though later versions reduced this to 12).
The deal was grim. In exchange for the power to save and expand his domain, Daigo promised to surrender body parts from his unborn child to the devils—one piece to each. It was a calculated gamble: gain the strength to rule, at the cost of his future heir's physical form.
