Ikegami is widely considered Ryonan's best defender—even Taoka acknowledges this. During the Shohoku matchup, he drew the tough assignment of guarding Mitsui, and while he managed to shut him down for stretches, it wasn't enough to turn the tide. When Ryonan's championship hopes end with that loss, Ikegami graduates alongside Uozomi. The difference between them shows in how they handle it: Uozomi gets emotional giving his teammates pep talks about next year, while Ikegami stays composed and level-headed about the whole thing.
