Graveler is a stocky, boulder-like Pokémon that walks on two legs, though it can shift into a legless form that lets it float. Its round body is bumpy all over, with a rocky crest sitting above its small eyes and mouth. It's got four arms—each ending in three-fingered hands—but it typically keeps the back pair tucked against its chest.
Despite having legs, Graveler is a pretty slow walker, so it much prefers to roll instead. It careens down mountain paths at speeds over 60 mph, crushing whatever gets in its way, and stops by slamming into massive rocks when it picks up too much momentum. Roll into a river though, and it'll explode. Graveler doesn't really care if pieces break off during all this—it can repair itself over time anyway.
The typical routine for a Graveler is to climb a mountain from bottom to top, eating rocks the whole way. Moss-covered rocks are its favorite snack, and it goes through tons of them, making a ton of noise while chewing. Once it reaches the peak, it rolls right back down to start over. They carve out horizontal burrows in cliff faces and can handle volcanic heat without issue. As a sleeper, Graveler apparently rocks back and forth—probably dreaming about those high-speed mountain runs, based on what we know.
Alolan Graveler is the regional variant found in Alola. It's got the same basic shape but with a silvery finish, magnetic iron sand clinging to it, and scattered yellowish crystals across its body. Its upper limbs don't have distinct fingers, and its feet have two toes instead of three. The iron sand creates crystal-like formations above its eyes and along its arms and face.
This version has a mean streak—it's quick to anger and fights with others over food. Its diet consists of dravite, which produces those yellow crystals and gives it electrical powers. When two Alolan Graveler crash into each other during fights, they create flashes of light and booming sounds, earning them the nickname "the fireworks of the earth." Like the standard version, it rolls down mountains, except it zaps obstacles with electricity to send them flying instead of just flattening them. You can find them in the Canyon Biome at Blueberry Academy's Terarium, where Alola's environment is recreated.
Evolution
